EXTRA BARRELS: Winchester offered extra interchangeable barrels for its Model 42s, at customer's request beginning in 1934. These extra sets of barrels are a rare option. Both barrels should have same barrel markings and matching serial numbers before originality can be considered. The shotgun is one of the 120/1200/1300 in 12 gauge I believe. It has solid wood furniture with no checkering. The buttpad indicates that it was made under license by US Repeating Arms and the serial number indicates that it was made in 1982 (L1411XXX). The mag tube is not the Defender length. Buy Winchester Model 120, 1200 & 1300 Barrels Factory replacement gun parts, accessories and gunsmithing service on most manufacturers including Browning, Winchester, FN America, Beretta, Benelli Franchi, Stoeger, Remington, Bushmaster, Marlin, Sig Sauer, HK and many more. Serial Number Letters: Prior to 1968 no serial number prefix was used. As the result of the Gun Control Act of 1968, Winchester assigned letter prefixes to the serial numbers to designate most models, the letter 'H' was assigned to the Model 88s while 'A' was used as a suffix to the Model 100 serial numbers.
